Chuck Close Documentary

I had the pleasure of attending a screening of Chuck Close directed by Marion Cajori at The Philoctetes Center for the Multidisciplinary Study of the Imagination (http://www.philoctetes.org/) this past Saturday. This event is an example of why the phrase "Only in New York." is true. The confluence of the setting, the host organization, the film, an interested and attentive audience, and the subject- Chuck was in attendance- is only possible in New York. There is no other city in the world-possibly in all of history- where this type of event is possible and practically lost in a city filled with equally amazing events.

I learned much during the film about my project. The freedom of Chuck's brushwork, the starting point, and the systematic brick by brick approach he takes, all were answers to challenges I have faced in my 2-D Dot Matrix Portrait of him. His work has a harmony that I have yet to achieve. The deeper I get in, the farther I have to go.
